Black International Grand Masters
June 25, 2009
There are now three Black International Grand Masters in the world today. Maurice Ashley is the first and only American. Carisson Pontus from Sweden and Sabure Tuduelso from Africa qualified in 2008. There is another African, Simutowe Armon, who has met all of the qualifications and is waiting to be granted the International Grand Master designation.

Got something to say?

Sabure Tuduelso has a title of Woman Grandmaster, which doesn’t have the same weight as the non-restricted title. Amon Simutowe is a grandmaster now.
A few African IM’s to watch out for…
Robert Gwaze with ranking of 2428
Watu Kobese with ranking of 2370
Kenny Solomon with ranking of 2351
Pedro Aderito with ranking of 2333
There might be some rising American black IM”s too.
